撒迦利亚书第13 章8-9节这样记载着
耶和华说：这全地的人，三分之二必剪除而死，三分之一仍必存留。我要使这三分之一经火，熬炼他们，如熬炼银子；试炼他们，如试炼金子。他们必求告我的名，我必应允他们。我要说：这是我的子民。他们也要说：耶和华是我们的上帝。

8 耶和华说：这全地的人，三分之二必剪除而死，三分之一仍必存留。
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
In the whole land," declares the Lord , "two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it.
And it will come about that in all the land, says the Lord, two parts of it will be cut off and come to an end; but the third will be still living there.
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith Jehovah, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

9 我要使这三分之一经火，熬炼他们，如熬炼银子；试炼他们，如试炼金子。他们必求告我的名，我必应允他们。我要说：这是我的子民。他们也要说：耶和华是我们的上帝。
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
This third I will bring into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'The Lord is our God.' "
And I will make the third part go through the fire, cleaning them as silver is made clean, and testing them as gold is tested: and they will make their prayer to me and I will give them an answer: I will say, It is my people; and they will say, The Lord is my God.
And I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, Jehovah is my God.
